Kim Kauffman collaborates with her customers in both the planning and
creation stages of producing photographs custom tailored for each project's
specific needs. Kim brings a fine arts aesthetic to her commercial assignments.
She is very familiar with non-traditional photographic processes such as Polaroid
transfers, printing on watercolor paper and hand coloring photographs. These types
of processes move photographs away from their characteristically slick look to
images with a unique feel. This helps many of her customer's products and
services stand out in a crowded marketplace and visually saturated world.
Kim's specialty, photo illustration, is ideal for representing a concept or telling
a story rather than simply picturing a product. Such a photograph could show
several aspects of a product, including its beginning and finished stages, its use
and its users all within one image. Or it could contain elements that, in reality,
might not exist together, but combine to perfectly express a client's idea or attitude.
Kim Kauffman's photographs have been consistently recognized over the last
fifteen years by the American Advertising Federation with its highest award for
exellence in advertising, the "ADDY" , and in numerous national fine art
photography competitions. Most recently Ms. Kauffman gained international
recognition for a series of cameraless, filmless photographs titled "Synergy"
when she received first place in the digital capture personal work category
of PDN's 1999 digital photography competition.
